Витамин В4 (холин). Холин необходим животному организму как липотропный фактор, способствующий образованию в печени фосфолипидов и поступлению их в кровь. При недостатке холина нарушается жировой и углеводный обмен, снижается прирост живой массы, наблюдается ожирение печени.

Добавка к рациону холина (профилактическая доза 20—40 мг, лечебная—50—70мг холинхлорида на 1 кг живой массы) благотворно действует при жировой инфильтрации печени, способствуя удалению из нее избыточного жира. Эффективность действия холина повышается при увеличении в рационе кормов, богатых метионином (творог, мясо). При неблагополучном щенении и гибели беременных самок хорошие результаты дает добавка холинхлорида с витамином В12.

Витамин В5 (РР, никотиновая кислота). Этот витамин имеет существенное значение в регулировании углеводного и белкового обмена в организме, стимулирует пищеварение. Он содержится в достаточном количестве в большинстве кормов и синтезируется в организме зверей. На синтетически очищенных рационах (без никотиновой кислоты) у зверей терялся аппетит, снижался прирост живой массы, наблюдался кровавый понос, они слабели, впадали в коматозное состояние. Потребность зверей в витамине В5 составляет 0,5 мг на 100 ккал обменной энергии. Применяется (в дозе 2—5 мг на 1 кг живой массы) при заболеваниях желудочнокишечного тракта и печени. Соединения витамина РР малотоксичны, однако следует избегать избыточных дач, способствующих жировой инфильтрации печени.
